The following statistics were released by the Department of Health - Inpatient Waiting Times; Outpatient Waiting Times.
Inpatient Waiting times
- The number of patients, for whom English commissioners are responsible, waiting over the 26 weeks standard for inpatient admission at the end of June 2009 was 23 (compared to the total of 585,000).
- The number of patients, for whom English commissioners are responsible, waiting over 13 weeks at the end of June 2009 was 44,900, an increase of 100 (0.2%) from May 2009, and a rise of 7,300 (19.4%) from June 2008.
Outpatient Waiting times
- The number of patients, for whom English commissioners are responsible, waiting over the 13 weeks standard for a first outpatient appointment following GP referral at the end of June 2009 was 149 (compared to the total of 1,020,000).
- The number of patients, for whom English commissioners are responsible, waiting over 8 weeks at the end of June 2009 was 53,500, a decrease of 9,600 (15.2%) from May 2009, but a rise of 24,200 (82.8%) from June 2008.
